Ulanova a.k.a Nova is a stunning 7yr old Dutch Warmblood xXx Thoroughbred. Ulanova means Ballerina in Russian, which is a very fitting name for this gorgeous, fancy girl. She is working second and third levels in Dressage. With her Barbie doll good looks and refined build, she is always one of the most beautiful horses in the barn. She has a sturdy build, and great muscling, but is still typey. She has a star on her face and that is her only marking, but she does get dapples in the summer. She comes with a full set of recent, clean x-rays. Her x-rays are so clean and perfect that they almost make her legs look like plastic! She has recently had her teeth floated, as well as all of her spring vaccinations. Nova clips great, bathes, and stands for vet/ farrier without a hassle. She can be turned out alone or with others, with mares or with geldings. Her heat cycles are mild, and the only sign is some back tightness. Nova will ground tie, and even follow me around the ring!
Nova was bred on a farm in Michigan, and then bought by me about two years ago. She has only known two owners, which means her background is not a mystery. She is extremely sweet and absolutely loves attention! I can fiddle with her for hours, and she never gets bored. Her work ethic is great and she has amazing endurance. Nova was with a professional trainer for about 4 months, and just two weeks ago, I brought her home to be sold. This means she is tuned up, fit and ready to go.
Her trot is super smooth to sit, and she has a rocking horse canter. Her walk is smooth and ground covering. Lateral work comes very easily to Nova, and she learns movements very quickly. Physically speaking, moving up the levels will not be hard, as she understands where her body is. She has great potential for piaffe and passage and occasionally offers green versions of both. My trainer (Trish Helmer of New York) thought that Nova could easily do all the Grand Prix movements. She could be shown second level this summer, and with some work on her changes, possibly third by the end of the year. Nova is sensitive, but not spastic under saddle, and I ride her with spurs and sometimes a whip. She is light in the hand, and very nice to ride. She works great outside as well as inside. She will walk through puddles outside too!
